Job Description:
The Associate Director of Honors and University Fellowships Coordinator will collaborate with the Honors Program Director, Undergraduate Research Director, and Honors Associate Director in fulfilling programing, teaching courses, and advising. The Associate Director of Honors and University Fellowships Coordinator oversees the leadership development of University Presidential Scholars and assists their colleagues in completing other administrative responsibilities. The Associate Director of Honors and University Fellowships Coordinator is also responsible for actively engaging students in the pursuit of external funding to achieve their personal and professional goals by competing for prestigious national and international scholarships and fellowships. The Associate Director of Honors and University Fellowships Coordinator reports directly to the Dean of Library & Learning and collaborates with other key partners in the Library & Learning Leadership Team.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in any field (Conferred on an official transcript at the time of application).



  • One (1) year of related professional experience in a student engagement role, or equivalent combination of post-secondary training, education, and/or professional experience.




Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.



  • One (1) year of related professional experience in competitive fellowships or scholarships advising, or equivalent combination of post-secondary training, education, and/or professional experience.

  • Experience applying for and potentially receiving national or international fellowships.

  • Experience in a higher education environment.

  • Demonstrated understanding of FERPA, university regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Demonstrated understanding of college student development, transitional issues, mentorship, leadership, and highly motivated students.

  • Ability to interpret and disseminate a wide range of information in verbal, printed, and electronic formats to a variety of audiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to assess student writing.



Other Requirements:
Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.

Based on the essential functions of this positions, MMB Policy #1422, and University policies relating to flexible work, this position is eligible for the following work modes: Up to 20% of the time. Telework: A position with a work arrangement that allows an employee to perform work on a regular basis at a telework location that is not the employee’s permanent/principal work location.

This position may have to work some evenings and weekends to help direct and coordinate student activities and attend recruiting events.
This position will be required to attend national conferences and other professional development related to honors, national fellowships and scholarships, as well as other professional development opportunities which may involve overnight travel.
