JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for providing exemplary technical consulting and meeting support for Clemson University administrative service areas. Occasional travel, after hours, and weekend support maybe required. Additionally, this role is responsible for developing and leading technical direction and training for other consultants. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
40% - Essential - Technical Support: Provides and oversees technical support to community members through in-person & remote visits, phone calls, or email. Troubleshoots software and hardware issues, identifies root causes, and implements solutions promptly. Serves as the initial on-site contact for classroom technology and video conferencing systems. Monitors the day-to-day service request activity ensuring timely and accurate problem resolution. Maintains accurate records of IT support requests, resolutions, and service activities within the Clemson approved documentation system. Provides on-call and after hours support as needed.
20% - Essential - Advanced Consulting:
Works with College or department to help plan or refine any technology needs, recommending solutions that fit within Clemson's approved ecosystem or assists with submittal to IT Governance. Assists with referral to other CCIT areas or external vendors, as needed. Works and coordinates with peers, facilities, trades, and other contractors as needed.
20% - Essential - Meeting Support: Provides technology support for both in-person and hybrid meetings. Responsibilities include operating and troubleshooting the in-room audio visual equipment, advancing presentations, and ensuring that virtual attendees can participate in the event.
10% - Essential - Operations Management: Provides technical guidance and training on complex computer technical problems to community members and other support staff. Participates in developing strategic objectives for the IT department. Creates training documentation / presentations for community members and support staff.
10% - Essential - Compliance and Project Management: Ensures that software and hardware purchases meet university standards and policies. Monitors and assists in planning current and future computing needs by maintaining awareness of the IT industry regarding hardware and software applicable to the University through participation in weekly/monthly technical meetings and engaging in technical discussions with other IT staff. Completes training as required by the department or University.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - A bachelor's degree and experience in automated information or communication system design, installation, operation, repair, sales or marketing. Related experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Work Experience: 5+ years
10+ Years experience in information technology or related field.
