Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music. The Department of Music is a rapidly expanding unit of the School of the Arts, Media & Communication within the College of Liberal Arts. The Performing Arts Center, opened in April 2005, features a concert hall with flexible acoustics designed by Jaffe-Holden Acoustics, and is the principal performance venue of the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra and the Corpus Christi Chorale, as well as student and faculty performances.

The Department of Music at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi seeks candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music-Trombone position for August, 2014.

A completed doctorate in trombone performance or a related field by the time of appointment is required. ABDs will be considered but must have a completed doctoral degree by time of appointment. Demonstrated ability to teach applied trombone is required. Other desirable secondary teaching areas include music history, music theory, low brass techniques, and/or low brass ensemble. Evidence of ability to be a successful teacher, scholar, performer, and congenial colleague is required.  

Demonstrated success in recruiting and retaining students is highly desirable.

The primary responsibility will be to teach applied trombone lessons for both music majors and some non-majors. Secondary responsibilities may include teaching low brass pedagogy, music history, music theory and/or jazz band, depending upon the candidate's strengths and departmental needs. The successful candidate will be expected to work within a team-oriented departmental culture, and to undertake other duties according to the needs of the department. Teaching schedule may involve night, weekend, and electronic course delivery.
