Position Summary:

The Department of English invites applications for 2 full-time, non-tenure-track faculty positions, beginning fall term 2024. We are seeking dynamic teachers with demonstrated experience designing courses in academic writing.

Lecturers in English teach 4 classes per semester, 3 courses in first-year writing and another in your specialty. Writing courses are typically capped at 16 students. Our first-year writing curriculum allows considerable freedom to design courses with a topic of your choice. Lecturers are not required to do research and have limited service requirements, but have full access to faculty development opportunities, including support from our Endeavour Center for Teaching and Learning and grants for travel and professional development. Lecturers at Rollins have the opportunity to advance to the position of Senior Lecturer.

Our department is actively in conversation about how generative AI tools will reshape what we mean by “writing competency” and we're excited to welcome new voices into that discussion.

Rollins College requires its faculty to have a strong commitment to teaching and curriculum development and show promise of pedagogical innovation and educational leadership. The successful candidate must be able to contribute to a diverse and inclusive learning and working environment at Rollins College. We view differences (e.g., nationality, race, gender, age, sexual orientation, socioeconomic class, physical ability, perspectives) as rich opportunities for understanding, learning, and growth.

Rollins College is a comprehensive liberal arts college located just north of Orlando, FL, a diverse metropolitan community with a thriving economic and cultural scene. Minimum Qualifications and Education:

  1. Letter of interest demonstrating your experience teaching courses in writing and how your field of interest informs your teaching philosophy and course design.

  3. Statement of teaching philosophy
  4. Names and email addresses of three references. (Letters of recommendation will be requested from candidates selected for short-list Microsoft Teams interviews.)

**Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Applications desiring preferential consideration should apply by February 26, 2024.**
