The University of North Texas (UNT) invites nominations and applications for the position of
Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

A student-focused public research university founded in 1890 in Denton, Texas, UNT is the nation's 25th largest public university and the flagship of the UNT System. The Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences is the chief academic and administrative officer of the College, reporting directly to the Provost. The College of Arts and Sciences at UNT includes 18 departments and more than 30 academic centers, institutes and programs focusing on instruction and research in the humanities and social, natural and mathematical sciences. The College enrolls over 9,700 undergraduate students in 39 degree programs, or almost one third of all majors in the University. Advanced graduate education in CAS is provided to over 1,350 students through 29 master's programs and 15 doctoral degrees. The college includes 332 tenure/tenure track faculty and 112 non-tenure lecturers supported by more than 200 staff members.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must possess an earned doctorate in a discipline represented in a department of the College of Arts and Sciences at UNT; an exemplary record of scholarly accomplishment that merits tenure at the rank of full professor in an appropriate department; demonstrated ability to work with faculty and a commitment to shared governance; previous administrative experience at the level of Department Chair/Head or higher; a demonstrated commitment to diversity; and excellent communication skills. Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in strategic planning and policy creation, professional faculty development, community outreach, and fundraising.
