The Office of Civic Engagement at the University of Chicago is seeking an Associate Director of Communications to help advance University initiatives in the community, the City and around the world.
The Office of Civic Engagement is responsible for a diverse portfolio of programs and initiatives related to community relations, civic and City/State government relations, economic development, and educational outreach programs, while supporting faculty and local community-based research projects and initiatives. The office works closely with internal and external stakeholders on a range of quality of life initiatives, including public education, community development, workforce development, arts and culture, public safety, employer-assisted housing, and civic partnerships.
The Associate Director of Communications for Civic Engagement will help execute the strategic communication plan for the work of Civic Engagement and for individual initiatives, using a variety of media and events to tell those stories, convey the larger messages and capture the full impact of the University's work. They will write, assign, or collaborate on internal messages, community presentations, news and feature articles for University web publications, and op-eds or other pieces for external media. The Associate Director of Communications for Civic Engagement will work closely with members of the campus community and external constituents to facilitate planning and execution of various projects.
