Job Description: The Systems Administrator/Programmer 3 is responsible for advanced level Linux/Unix systems administration. This position is expected to be technical lead on one or more University infrastructure services. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: -The development of medium to large UF IT projects -The implementation and support of Tier 2 requests including after-hour and weekend rotations -Performs maintenance and installation of a variety of hardware and software systems, including web, application, and database servers -Formulating and implementing monitoring systems procedures and work plans -The preparation and modification of technical and capacity documentation -Researching and informing UF IT of upcoming industry changes and trends -Ensuring the performance and reliability of multiple systems. -May develop business continuity practices for IT systems. -May perform capacity analysis, monitor and control use of IT resources -May develop enterprise hardware and virtualization standards -May develop database and warehousing designs, or an overall data architecture to support information needs -May manage and maintain production and non-production databases
Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational\/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with large scale systems (in terms of number of servers, users, workload volume, or the other metrics). Knowledge of: -UNIX operating system concepts and Linux system calls -High Availability, clustering, and load balancing -Red Hat Enterprise Linux, VMware, and Cloud technologies. Experience administering Apache, Oracle, MySQL, and Java Application Servers (Tomcat) -Working knowledge of encryption, identity management, service federation, and PKI -Excellent technical writing and communication skills -Ability to interact with people in an effective and courteous manner -Experience with Enterprise Systems a plus: Saki, Shibboleth, Peoplesoft, Kerberos
