The Department of Education at St. Catherine University invites applicants for a full-time Placement Coordinator.

The undergraduate college at St. Catherine University (St. Kate's) is one of only six US institutions that is both a women's college and a minority serving institution. Based in the Twin Cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota, St. Kate's is home to a diverse group of around 3,500 students in varying disciplines and degree levels.

Responsibilities:
Oversight of Initial Licensure clinical experiences that includes:
  • Placing teacher education candidates (initial licensure) in fieldwork settings for the foundations block.
  • Collecting student teaching applications and verifying candidate eligibility to be placed in student teaching setting.
  • Placing teacher education candidates in student teaching settings with a cooperating teacher
  • Communicating assignments of university supervisors - full-time faculty and adjuncts - to evaluate candidate performance.
  • Collecting final evaluations and letters of recommendation from university supervisor and cooperating teacher.
  • Informing Initial Licensure Program Director of any issues associated with teacher candidate clinical placements; provide assistance to the Director when counseling struggling teacher candidates.
  • Preparing and reviewing materials for foundational fieldwork experiences, student teaching intake meetings, and student teacher sendoff meetings.
  • Conducting teacher education candidate meetings - in collaboration with the Initial Licensure Program Director -related to foundational fieldwork experiences, student teaching intake, and student teaching sendoff.
  • Planning and conducting training sessions for university supervising faculty and adjuncts around supervision and mentoring.
  • Implementing use of co-teaching during fieldwork and student teaching.
  • Facilitating evaluation and credential process for student teachers.
  • Submitting all student teaching grades each term.
  • Fostering relationships with partner schools.



Co-Coordination of edTPA with Initial Licensure Program Director:
  • Assisting with the coordination and the administration of the edTPA.
  • Assisting with the development of training for teacher candidates regarding edTPA. requirements (e.g. overview of the edTPA, communicating and tracking submission dates, ordering and tracking vouchers, troubling shooting, etc.).
  • Providing support for faculty as they work to implement edTPA in their courses.
  • Assisting with the coordination local evaluation and feedback to candidates and the Education Department.
  • Working with the faculty in using official scoring and local scoring as part of the department's assessment system.
  • Communicating with partner districts regarding the purpose and requirements associated with the edTPA.

Pre Student Teaching Interview (PSTI):
  • Collaborating with IL Program Director to identify times/dates for PSTI and sending time/date options to faculty to determine faculty availability.
  • Creating faculty teams with designated times, dates and rooms for the interviews and request that faculty verify the assignment.
  • Creating candidate PSTI Sign-Up document or other electronic document - remove faculty names - and distribute to candidates.
  • Student Teaching Supervision Load and CEUs.

Attend all relevant meetings associated with position:
  • Education Department Meetings
  • Statewide Meetings
  • Committee Meetings

Minimum Qualifications:
  • BA/BS in Education or related field.
  • Five years of experience working in PreK-12 settings as a teacher or administrator.
  • Three years of experience using Learning Management Systems (e.g, D2L) and Electronic Portfolio/Assessment Management tools (e.g., Taskstream).
  • One year of experience using Microsoft Office.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Education or related field.
  • Three years of experience in teacher education, higher education, or student placement experience in schools.
  • Holds or has held a valid teaching or administrator license/certification.
  • Knowledge of Minnesota Licensure Requirements and PELSB Rules.
