The University of Tennessee's Medieval and Renaissance Studies Interdisciplinary Program (IDP) seeks a non-tenure-track full-time lecturer with teaching and research expertise in medieval European history to start August 1, 2014. The lecturer will be responsible for teaching and grading (with a graduate teaching assistant) two lecture sections each semester of the IDPs sophomore-level sequence, Medieval Civilization I and II. This non-tenure-track position is renewable yearly, contingent upon evidence of excellent teaching and a continuing research agenda. Requirements include evidence of effective teaching and Ph.D. in History or related discipline. Experience teaching medieval Latin is desirable. Salary is $34,000, plus health and retirement benefits and a generous travel allowance. Teaching load is 6 credit hours per semester plus supervision of GTA. Participation in various Marco Institute for Medieval and Renaissance Studies programs (http://marco.utk.edu) expected. Deadline: April 7, or until position is filled.
