The director of admissions reports to the associate vice president for student affairs and provides strategic planning and direction in administering the overall operation of the Office of Admissions, including recruitment, selection, processing, orientation, and enrollment of new undergraduate students and the processing of graduate applicants. The director of admissions plays a critical role in the development of the universitys new student enrollment projections and in the implementation of strategic enrollment initiatives. The director collaborates and consults with members of the Enrollment Leadership Team and other departments and staff in order to meet the enrollment goals of the campus. The director oversees all admissions departments, including: Office of Admissions, Campus Visits, New Student Programs, Admissions Research, and Precollegiate Programs. The director provides overall leadership in the area of departmental technology initiatives and admissions administrative systems.


The successful candidate must possess a bachelor's degree and ten years of related experience or a master's degree and eight years of related experience or a Ph.D. (or other doctoral/professional program) and five years of related experience. A doctorate is preferred. Experience must include increasingly responsible collegiate admissions experience, specifically in meeting enrollment targets; recruiting and motivating faculty, staff, students, and volunteers; recruiting targeted populations; and developing long-term recruitment strategies; operations management experience; and marketing experience. Additional preferred qualifications include experience that demonstrates a well-developed knowledge of computer systems and recruitment software; extensive programming experience in the areas of yield enhancement and recruitment of high-ability, multicultural, transfer, traditional, and nontraditional undergraduates; and experience in the recruiting, training and motivation of faculty, student, and alumni volunteers. The successful candidate also will possess strong leadership skills, well-developed written and oral communication skills, research abilities, administrative and supervisory skills, organizational skills, general knowledge of marketing, and the ability to interpret data.
