The Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for an academic non-tenure track position to serve as the Administrative Director of the Denning Technology and Management Program beginning no earlier than April 1, 2014.
The Steven A. Denning Technology & Management (T&M) Program is a two-year course of study at Georgia Tech in which undergraduate students from the Colleges of Computing and Engineering and the Scheller College of Business learn together in an integrated program. The generous funding of the program by Mr. Steven A. Denning is providing the necessary resources to create an academic environment that sets a global standard in interdisciplinary education for future leaders in an increasingly innovative world. The emphasis is on experiential learning and the inclusion of hands-on elements in each of the program courses. Students work together to develop comprehensive solutions to real-world problems sponsored by the programs Corporate Affiliates. Business and Engineering students who complete the program earn a Minor in Engineering & Business. Computing students and Business students with concentrations in Information Technology Management receive a Minor in Computing & Business.
This position will be responsible for the administrative, supervision, and limited instructional functions of the Denning T&M Program. The successful candidate will have administrative and/or teaching experience in the academic areas of Business and/or Engineering/Computing. The candidate will also preferably have experience developing corporate partnerships, the ability to promote the program to potential corporate and private donors, and acquiring external funding for academic programs.
The Administrative Director of the Denning T&M Program will work under the direction of the Steven A. Denning Professor of Technology and Management and the Dean of the College of Business in the establishment of program goals, curricular design, recruitment of students, development of program materials, scheduling T&M courses, financial oversight, organizing and mentoring student teams/projects, and facilitating Corporate Affiliate relationships and meetings. The Administrative Director will consult, coordinate, and collaborate with administrators and faculty members in the Colleges of Computing and Engineering and the Scheller College of Business, and with other Georgia Tech offices such as the Office of Development.
Note: This position will be reviewed for reappointment annually, pending fiscal conditions of the College and satisfactory performance and completion of the roles and responsibilities of the position.
Applicants who possess a Ph.D. or a Masters Degree in Business will be considered; experience with academic program management, corporate relations, and undergraduate teaching are desirable. The academic title will be applied once the final candidate selection has been made.
