JOB DUTIES: Primary responsibilities include teaching the Spanish language and pedagogical courses. Other courses may be assigned depending on additional area(s) of expertise. Additional responsibilities include participation in the general education/assessment program; ongoing curriculum planning and review; professional/instructional development; participation in university and departmental committees; student advisement, recruitment, and retention activities; and other related duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in Spanish Applied Linguistics or a closely-related field, experience in education Pre K-12, two years of college- teaching experience at graduate teaching assistant level or higher, and native or near-native fluency in Spanish. Individuals with a Ph.D. in hand by the time of appointment will be considered. Preferred candidates will have the ability to teach general courses in the Spanish language and teacher-training courses and be familiar with ACTFL standards. Desired strengths include knowledge of Spanish linguistics. Must be committed to excellence in teaching and innovation in general education and must have well-developed teamwork and communication skills. Experience with online and other distance-learning methods is highly desired. Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of these requirements.
SALARY & BENEFITS: Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience with appointment expected at a minimum rank of assistant professor.
