The College of Engineering at Michigan State University is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic, results-oriented individual to join its highly successful fundraising team as the Associate Director of Corporate/Foundation Relations. The College of Engineering is one of the largest and oldest colleges on the MSU campus. The College has six departments with 165 faculty members, about 3,300 undergraduate and nearly 900 graduate students enrolled annually. The College has nearly 32,000 living, reachable alumni. As the College prepares for MSU’s next capital campaign, the Associate Director of Corporate/Foundation Relations will be an integral member of a team focused on achieving and surpassing an $80M campaign goal.

In their work with corporations and foundations, the Associate Director will assist faculty and College administration in identifying, cultivating, and engaging potential corporate and foundation sources of support, with the ultimate goal being major gift solicitation in support of significant initiatives in the College.

This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining a portfolio of corporate and foundation relationships for the College of Engineering in key sectors including automotive/transportation, manufacturing, biotechnology and information technology. The position’s main priority will be charitable gifts, with a secondary focus on grants for research.

Requirements: Minimum of bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or related field. Advanced degree in a relevant field highly desirable. Five years demonstrated and progressively more responsible experience working within private sector corporations in research and development, communications, public relations or finance. Demonstrated experience in managing business relationships in a role such as account manager is desirable.
Broad industry knowledge in major sectors such as automotive/transportation, manufacturing, biotechnology and information technology is desirable.  Experience and level of sophistication needed to deal with high level management in the corporate or education sector.  Must be goal oriented and an accomplished problem solver.
Knowledge of university/industry intellectual property issues is highly desirable.
Must be team oriented/collaborative.
