Job Description: The College of Pharmacy Department of Medicinal Chemistry Office for Distance Education and Entrepreneurial Programs is searching for a Director of Educational Technology. This position will be responsible for the following: Support for Instructors/Designers/Students Lead the support initiative for all the clients in the distance education programs and PharmD programs as it relates to educational technology. The position's primary responsibility will be to manage instructional technology projects and provide expertise on software and web-based tools integration. Requires expert-level proficiency with course management systems, Helpdesk systems, UF central services and technologies, and a deep understanding of various online technologies for teaching and learning. Incumbents will need to be available after regular hours to assist clients. Strategic Planning/Program Development Collaborate with Associate Deans in Improving Current program and Implementing New Distance Education Projects. Liaison with other units to form strategic partnerships in online academic programs. Requires sound knowledge of program development and should be able to offer expert advice on using appropriate online technologies and solutions for meeting course objectives. Provide 24/7 help desk support to students in the following distance education programs. Forensics Clinical Toxicology Pharmaceutical Chemistry Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy Manage a staff of two instructional designers and provide guidance to faculty extenders. Provide guidance on best practices and convey with staff the expectations that the COP faculty have. Coordinate the creation or selection of a new secondary registration system/database. Programing of the new system to meet the needs of the various programs that are supported. Support and troubleshoot the technical issues with the system. Knowledge of the current programs that are supported is crucial to the implementation and setup of this new system.
Minimum Requirements: This position is open to current UF employees only. Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.
Preferred Qualifications A minimum of 8 years of higher education experience in distance education and support services. Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively across divisions and in a culturally diverse environment. Provide leadership in the development and implementation of college level and University wide distance education and information technology objectives. Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
