POSITION SUMMARY

Working with ABIC’s Senior Leadership team and State Directors, the Development Director will provide strategic leadership to grow fundraising revenues from foundations, corporations, government sources, individuals, and events. The Development Director will also work closely with the Deputy Director to build a development director that can support a growing organization.  This position reports to the Executive Director.  This position is remote.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and execute a fundraising strategy to increase revenues. 
  • Oversee all fundraising events including small donor cultivation events and annual conference, grant writing, major donor and membership cultivation, prospect identification and research, donor engagement, government grants and contracts, and corporate partnerships.
  • Build a high-performing development department.
  • Create and institutionalize best practices for fundraising, gift acknowledgement, donor tracking and cultivation, and coordination across departments and state chapters.  
  • Work collaboratively with State Directors to create and implement local fundraising plans. 
  • Provide oversight and guidance in building out EveryAction to track donations and cultivation opportunities.
  • Work closely with the Director of Operations to ensure grants and donations are being processed and acknowledged.  

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least five years of experience and strong track record of success in fundraising across revenue streams, donor cultivation, and event management.
  • Experience with fundraising campaigns, major gift solicitation, events, online fundraising, annual appeals and membership drive. 
  • Experience creating and implementing a development plan. 
  • Experience with supervising staff. 
  • Knowledge of and background in immigration issues at national, state, and local levels is an advantage. 
  • Experience working with board members to enhance and leverage fundraising activities. 
  • Knowledge of EveryAction is a plus. 
  • Fluency in immigration issues and national politics is a plus.   
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and communications skills is a must.
