JOB DUTIES:  New Biological Science faculty are required to (1) teach at the undergraduate level each semester, (2) develop an externally-funded research program in an area of expertise that will result in the regular publication of experimental results, and (3) actively participate in department, college, and university service activities & committees. Research: Candidates will maintain a track record of external funding and publication. Expectations include development of an undergraduate-level mentored research program. Teaching: Teaching responsibilities may include introductory courses for majors and/or non-majors, anatomy and physiology, and elective courses in areas of expertise. Service: Additional responsibilities will include curriculum planning, implementation, and evaluation; assessment and evaluation of instruction; student advising; and other duties as needed and/or assigned. This is a 9-month appointment.


QUALIFICATIONS:  Minimum qualifications include a terminal degree at the doctoral level in a field of biology, a developed program of research, and college-level teaching experience. Postdoctoral experience is preferred. Other preferred qualifications include a track record of external funding and publication, and (1) research expertise in the broad areas of embryological development, physiology, metabolism, or a related biomedical field; or (2) research expertise in the broad areas of ecology and evolution, organismal biology, and/or microbiology. Demands of the position require excellent oral and written communication skills, superior interpersonal skills, and the ability to utilize instructional technology in the classroom. Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of these requirements.


SALARY & BENEFITS:  Assigned rank will be Assistant Professor. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
