Sociology: The Department of Sociology at the University of Connecticut invites applications for one tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level, with a starting date of August 23, 2014. We are seeking candidates who will pursue rigorous research programs, contribute to graduate and undergraduate teaching, provide service to the university and the profession, and seek external funds to support their scholarly activities. The areas of hiring priority are sociology of family and sociology of culture. Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must have an earned PhD in Sociology by August 22, 2014; promise of research excellence as evidenced through publications or publishing potential; and evidence of ability to teach in the priority area for which the candidate is applying. Equivalent foreign degrees are acceptable. Preferred Qualifications: Exceptional promise in research and grants, teaching, and service; candidates who can, in addition to their specialty areas, also contribute to our required graduate and undergraduate course offerings in qualitative methods, quantitative methods, or sociological theory. This is a 9-month, tenure track position. The typical course load is two courses per semester. Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with background, qualifications and experience.
