ESL LECTURER (Testing Coordinator), INTENSIVE ENGLISH
The Intensive English Program, Department of Second Language Studies at Indiana University invites applications for 2-4 positions as Lecturer in ESL. This is a 10-month appointment (five two-month sessions) with an initial three-year contract. Lecturers are eligible to apply for promotion to senior lecturer (via portfolio assessment) after 5 years. Begins August 1, 2014. IEP courses meet daily. Candidates will teach two courses per session with 20 hours per week devoted to program development in the area of language assessment. Co-chair IEP testing committee, evaluate IEP test results to determine reliability and validity of assessment practices, participate in ongoing test development, and prepare annual reports for accreditation. MA in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or closely related field required. Must have five years experience teaching in university-based intensive ESL programs, overseas experience desirable. Course in testing and at least one year experience in testing with demonstrated successful experience developing ESL tests for intensive English programs, working knowledge of best practices in assessment and test development, successful experience managing a testing committee. Lecturers are expected to take a leadership role in the IEP.
