The Assistant Vice President for Research is one of two senior management positions in corporate relations within the Office of the Vice President for Research reporting to the Senior Associate Vice President for Research.  This position is responsible, along with the existing Assistant Vice President, for establishing and maintaining industrial relationships and assisting faculty with developing research relationships.  A strong emphasis will also be placed on assisting with Sponsored Program research and contracting negotiations once a project has been funded.  This position will also facilitate workshops and other events to build strong internal collaborations and create more external opportunities.

Responsibilities include the following:  help industry network with Purdue and effectively interface with the University in the development of mutually beneficial collaborative research partnerships. Where appropriate, manage strategic technology partnerships.  Help in project selection and funding, organizing annual meetings and solving problems as they arise.  Be the primary technology/partnership contact for industrial/university partnerships. Carry out partnership negotiations.  Develop and write Memoranda of Understanding.  Facilitate completion of Master Research contracts.

Required:  Ph.D. in Engineering or Science.  Five years of experience and accomplishments in working with industrial research projects and experience in building effective research teams.  Excellent communication and organizational skills, and a history of accomplishments in collaboration and working with groups.  Ability to liaison with campus senior administrators, school and departmental administrators, faculty members, and sponsors.  Knowledge of and extensive experience working in or with industry.
