Position Summary:
Position Overview:The position is responsible for maintaining clean and orderly facilities for students, faculty, staff and visitors. As part of a self-directed team, the position will take initiative to schedule cleaning and maintenance activities.
Duties may include:
- Perform basic cleaning, sanitization and trash collection in and around residences halls and university buildings
- Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies
- Notify occupants of cleaning and floor maintenance schedules
- Maintain clean and clear walkways, ensuring they are free of debris, litter, snow and ice
- Respond to emergencies and assist other departments when needed to ensure optimum service
- Ensure that assigned rooms and buildings are opened and locked as scheduled
- Assist with training new employees
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Performing cleaning tasks
- Working in a team-oriented environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience operating industrial high-speed cleaning equipment; performing minor maintenance on custodial equipment; and explaining the use and maintenance of custodial equipment
- Expressed interest in learning and acquiring skills related to
custodial services
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
Must be able to:
- Climb ladders, bend and stoop
- Lift, carry and/or otherwise move items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Stand and walk continuously throughout the workday
- Work in inclement weather conditions
