Position Summary:
Willamette University invites applicants for a one-year, non-tenure-track, full-time faculty position in Exercise and Health Science at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor, beginning in August 2024 and running through May 2025
The successful candidate will teach 6 courses (with a lab counting as .5 course) over the academic year, and participate in departmental service and activities. Primary duties include teaching EXHS 340: Clinical Healthcare: Theory and Application; this course is an introduction to the field of clinical assessment of injury and illness, and is designed to cover evaluation protocols, initial and progressive management, and principles of rehabilitation. The course has an accompanying laboratory. Additional teaching assignments will include other courses within the Exercise and Health Science program, according to the candidate's expertise; there is also the possibility of developing courses not listed that could enhance the program. This position may be renewable for up to three years depending on curricular demand and budget.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • An advanced degree in the candidate's field (terminal degree preferred);
  • Experience as a clinical healthcare provider required;
  • Applicants working on degree completion will be considered, provided they have clinical experience.
  • Must be able to reside in or primarily work in Oregon by the first day of employment. This is an in-person teaching position.

  • Unofficial copy of graduate transcripts plus evidence of clinical credential certification.


Candidates chosen to move to the next stage of the process will be asked to submit:

A link to a video of yourself during a teaching demonstration, preferably leading students through a clinical evaluation.
