The Department of Communication Studies invites applications for a full-time position beginning July 2014.  The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Communication Studies or related discipline.  The Department is looking for an individual who will model a commitment to excellence in teaching, mentoring students, and engaged scholarship.

 

The Department of Communication Studies consists of four full-time, faculty members.  We are seeking an individual to join us who has the disposition of a generalist and a collegial spirit.  The successful candidate will have the ability to teach in one or more of the following areas: Media Studies, Public Relations, Intercultural Communication, Rhetorical Criticism, Organizational Communication, or Health Communication.  We are looking for candidates who will make strong teaching contributions to our core curriculum in communication studies and bring research/teaching expertise in one or more of the following areas: mediated relationships, social networking, computer-mediated communication, digital media, campaigns, or public advocacy. Teaching load is four courses per semester.

 

Applicants must have a Ph.D. and be committed to interdisciplinary collaboration in a vibrant Christian liberal arts environment.  The Department places high value on collaborative work, within the college as well as the larger community.  Professional experience and/or experience with teaching service-learning courses are highly desirable.  Candidates must evidence a strong record of classroom teaching, scholarship within their field, and a commitment to instructing highly motivated students.  Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications.
