Information Technology Support Specialist Senior
Job Description Summary
Reporting directly to the Senior Systems Administrator, and indirectly to the Information Technology Director, the Senior IT Support Specialist will oversee the management and maintenance of Windows infrastructure and devices in Weitzman spaces, including single-user devices as well as public and lab computers, across the School's 11 buildings to meet the needs of faculty, staff and students. This includes, but is not limited to, software and image update compliance, refresh of hardware lifecycles, and upkeep of any specialized technology. They will partner with the Senior Systems Administrator on support for any services including project work and infrastructure changes. The Senior IT Support Specialist also identifies when new technology is necessary and works closely with faculty to determine how to best meet their software and hardware needs. They work independently to negotiate vendor contracts and pricing and work closely with them to forecast technical changes and future purchases and resolve technical difficulties. They also serve as an escalation point for second- and third-tier technical problems, work with faculty and staff to consult on IT and other technical needs associated with teaching, research, and departmental projects, and help. They collaborate on support for any services including project work and infrastructure changes.

Job Responsibilities
- Oversee the management and maintenance of Windows technology in various Weitzman spaces including Meyerson Hall and satellite locations for the school in order to meet the needs of faculty, staff and students. This includes, but is not limited to, software and image update compliance, refresh of hardware lifecycles, and upkeep of any specialized technology. Independently monitor and ensure IT compliance for various scenarios, including Weitzman computing/teaching labs, classrooms, administrative computers, and resolve more complex technical problems that occur throughout the year.
- Lead annual software planning and license renewal efforts, working closely with the over 40 standing faculty and 150 lecturers to identify, purchase and install software to meet faculty's varied instructional and pedagogical needs - both short and long term.
- Collaborate on support for any services including project work and infrastructure changes.
- Serve as an escalation point for more complex technical problems for faculty and staff. Identify issues with high impact or ongoing problems and lead the effort to assess, manage and develop resolutions.
- Provide consultation and recommendations to faculty and staff on their teaching, research and departmental needs, including recommending and advising on purchasing decisions and standards in accordance with university best practices.
- Develop and maintain vendor relationships. Independently negotiate vendor contracts and pricing. Work closely with vendors to forecast technical changes and future purchasing plans, track major software version releases, and resolve technical and any licensing issues that occur.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor of Science and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Advanced Windows 10/11 experience.
- Experience with Windows Server, Windows imaging/MDT, and IBM BigFix/endpoint management systems.
- Experience with network license management.
- Experience with programming/scripting languages.
- Intermediate to advanced computer hardware knowledge.
- Strong organization and communication skills are essential.
Preferred
- 3-5 years of experience.
- Experience with Microsoft PowerShell.
- Experience with JAMF and Mac/Linux imaging a plus.
