Associates work in areas such as development/programming, communications, technical support, or similar functions depending on the needs of the Information Technology area to which they report. Work tasks include resolving complex technology problems and serving as a technical resource. They have considerable latitude for independent initiative and judgment and may have supervisory responsibilities. I.T. CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The primary function of the Classroom Lab Support Services (CLSS) Systems Administrator is to work hand-in-hand with the CLSS to ensure seamless delivery of back office services, provide server hardware and application support (from server build to installation, configuration, and administration of over 30 servers), and in general, meet the needs of the faculty and students as requested and required. In addition to the general duties, the CLSS Systems Administrator will work in conjunction with the CLSS to provide back office support for the following:- Windows Server Update Server Setup and maintenance and provide updates for all desktop installations (ca. 1200) managed by CLSS- General systems administration and support of departmental servers Image database server Media server (streaming, podcasts, blogging, wikis) FTP server Web servers- Oversees daily backup of servers - Proficient in administering Linux OS - VMware EXSI and VSphere VDI Manage and monitor virtualized servers Update and deploy new virtual servers Migrate existing physical servers to a virtual environment- SCALA Digital Signage Server Content Management Monitor Functionality Design and create new layouts Create and manage user permission- Surveyor Verdiem Server Monitor computer through the use of power management rules- Veralab Server Monitor and manage lab usage by students Organize rooms and assign to designated staff for reporting purposes- License ServerManage and monitor network licenses on various site licensed software- SMS Server - PaperCut print management server PaperCut provides printing for all John Jay students (ca. 14,500) Responsibilities include troubleshooting and resolving PaperCut problems; administration and maintenance of PaperCut bill acceptor stations Create and deploy software- Support of CTS 130 smart classroom installations across the campus Special projects and assignments for CTS- Provide third level technical support for computer labs across the campus- Deep Freeze Administrator Set up, configure, and maintain Deep Freeze in the computer labs- Creates procedural documentation- Work with vendors- Special projects as assigned John Jay College of Criminal Justice, a senior college of the City University of New York (CUNY), is an internationally recognized leader in educating for justice, committed to the advancement of justice and just societies. 1. High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
2. An equivalent of seven years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: seven years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus five years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus three years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position
3. Demonstrated English Language proficiency
4. A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.
This job has three levels. To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.
