College Information

The College of Education can be considered the cornerstone college of Florida A&M University, a thriving historically black university located in Florida’s capital city, Tallahassee.  The College of Education was the first and only college within the university at its inception in 1887.  The primary mission of the college is to prepare teacher and leadership candidates to become transformative school leaders.  The College of Education administers the pre- and in-service professional education and graduate programs encompassed within four departments: Elementary Education; Secondary Education, Technology Education, and Foundations; Health, Physical Education, and Recreation; and Educational Leadership and Human Services.


Position Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include: coordinating the undergraduate Mathematics Education program; advising Mathematics Education majors; teaching math pedagogy and lower division Math courses; and acting as a liaison between the Departments of Mathematics and Secondary Education.  Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to teaching, research and service, and will be involved in both graduate and undergraduate teaching (day or evening), as well as supervision of student teachers.


Candidate Qualifications

Candidates should have an earned doctorate in Mathematics Education from a regionally accredited institution.  Preference given to candidates with experience teaching mathematics at the secondary level, undergraduate and graduate level Mathematics  Education, in a multicultural environment, and teacher certification in Mathematics Education.  Experience with appropriate accrediting agencies and assessments are desirable.  Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
