Utica College seeks a new Dean for the School of Health Professions and Education. The School includes a unique mix of undergraduate and graduate programs in a dynamic independent college setting located in central New York. Collegiate Counsel, Inc. is assisting the College with the identification and recruitment of an exceptional leader for appointment by the summer of 2014.
Reporting directly to the Provost, the Dean of the School of Health Professions and Education will provide administrative leadership, working with departmental faculty and others to strengthen existing and develop new programs and initiatives.
The School offers programs with an interdisciplinary and inter-professional focus through multiple delivery means. Many on-ground programs are in stunning new facility, with state-of-the-art classrooms and labs dedicated to the health professions. On-line programs draw students from every corner of the globe, and hybrid programs combine on-line and on-ground instruction with clinical experiences in appropriate facilities. Transitional programs for RN to BS in Nursing and for bachelors degree-holders to BSN, the on-line Masters in Health Care Administration, the top-hundred Masters in Occupational Therapy, and the Post-professional Transitional Doctorate in Physical Therapy are only a few of the exemplary offerings at the School. New graduate programs that build on existing strengths in occupational therapy, education, psychology, and health care are under development, as are undergraduate programs in life studies, health education, community health and wellness, adventure recreation, and early childhood special education.
This is a key appointment for Utica College with significant potential for success. The successful candidate will be a leader who can develop a shared vision and energize people to work together toward it. She or he will have a terminal degree (doctorate preferred) in one of the disciplines in the School. An understanding of the academic environment, including teaching, learning, research, and service, is important, along with experience with on-line education. Substantial leadership experience is essential.
