The University of Massachusetts Amherst has an opening for an Oracle Database Administrator and is seeking a highly experienced and motivated individual to join its Development team. The ideal candidate is well versed in Oracle Databases and related third party software.

The Database Administrator contributes to the reliable and secure operation of the Oracle Database and related software components. Key responsibilities include installation, implementation and support of Oracle Databases and related software, and acting as the primary technical resource for our administrative computing applications. The Database Administrator provides ongoing support, including software tuning, installing upgrades and fixes, and maintaining software for 24/7 availability; contributes to policies and procedures ensuring a consistent data architecture that efficiently operates high quality, maintainable applications; and designs and implements a security plan for these systems.
Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field with 4 years of related experience, or a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an IT field, with more than 5 years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and training); 3+ years of experience on software development projects with software management responsibilities; experience developing and maintaining source code libraries and managing formal software releases for production environments; experience with Oracle Database server administration; experience with systems and database administration, application design and analysis; demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve difficult system problems under deadline, quickly learn new technologies and software, meet deadlines, work independently, communicate well verbally and in writing; and experience with SQL, including DDL and DML.
