The Business Manager III is responsible for the departmental financial and administrative affairs of University Research Services and Administration (URSA).
Prepares annual capital and operating budgets for all URSA departments, including the University Research Centers, according to University requirements. Monitors departmental budgets and provides monthly budget reports for each department, performs monthly expenditure certifications in accordance with University policy. Advises and assists the Vice President, Associate Vice Presidents, directors and managers with budgets, financial goals and administrative operations.
Develops financial management tools including annual forecasts for all URSA budgets and performs actual vs. projected expense analysis on an ongoing basis. Reviews, analyzes and reports on URSA financial data and maintains records according to University and Board of Regents requirements. Serves as liaison financially and administratively on behalf of the Vice President, Associate Vice Presidents, Directors and Managers.
Tracks, manages and reports on start-up funding for various faculty and University Research Centers. Gains a thorough knowledge of university financial systems, policies and procedures. Reviews transactions in the financial system input by URSA departmental and other university staff. Maintains appropriate documentation. Gains and utilizes thorough understanding of university/Board of Regents policies and procedures for expenditure of state appropriations; complies with such policies and procedures in URSA business transactions. Tracks and maintains various departmental agreements. Provides ad hoc financial and operating analyses and reporting as needed by Vice President, Associate Vice Presidents and department heads. Provides reports to the university Purchasing department. Assists with and provides documentation for state and external audits as requested.
Assists with matters relating to human resources and affirmative action. Represents URSA on various university committees. Supervises personnel as required. Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary: $49,286 - $76,111
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 6 years of administrative experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have experience in an academic research setting.
