The Executive Director manages, provides leadership for, and otherwise directs the operations of the Office of Faculty Personnel Services (FPS). S/He is responsible for the staff and all operations of FPS, which include services and programs for CMU tenure/tenure-track faculty, fixed-term faculty, adjunct faculty and graduate assistants; provides support for academic division Senior Officers, and their support staff as needed. Administers labor contracts and takes a lead role in negotiating faculty and graduate assistant contracts. Conducts investigations and resolves grievances.

Advanced degree preferably in the liberal arts, law, business/management, or related field.
Eight, or more, years of relevant professional experience, specifically in human resources, faculty relations or other directly associated field of employee relations management.
Four, or more, years of administrative supervisory experience, preferably in higher education.
Experience bargaining and/or administering labor contracts.
Strong organizational, management, leadership and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity and the ability to work with a diverse clientele.
Demonstrated competence in utilizing personal computers and computerized information systems.
Ability and willingness to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships throughout campus.
Knowledge of labor and employee relations laws.
Demonstrated excellence at both verbal and written communication.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
