Seeking dynamic, student focused, and innovative, full-time, live-in professional Residential Education Directors for communities housing 145-600 residents for the 2014-2015 academic year. An RED mentors and supervises up to 27 paraprofessionals, supports programming, advises government, provides crisis intervention, promotes multicultural awareness, coordinates desk operations, and performs comprehensive administrative functions.
We offer a unique and customizable experience with many opportunities to develop skills both as a specialist in Residence Life and a generalist in Student Affairs. Our collateral experience allows Residential Education Directors to develop an understanding of a variety of offices such as: Office of Student Standards and Accountability, Multicultural Student Services, Student Involvement and Leadership Development, Gender Identity/Expression and Sexual Orientation Resource Center, Center for Fraternity and Sorority Life, Office of the Dean of Students, and University Recreation.

Minimum/Required Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of relevant residence hall leadership, paraprofessional or group living experience and demonstrated experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. A Master's degree in College Student Personnel/Higher Education Administration/Counseling Psychology or a related field may be substituted for one (1) year of experience. Must be willing and able to keep regular hours and work some evenings and weekends.
Preferred qualifications: Successful candidates ideally will possess the ability to work with students and administrators in a broad range of situations and demonstrate a genuine concern/interest for the welfare of students. In addition, a candidate ideally will demonstrate the following: the ability to work independently under pressure, work with a diverse student and staff population, excellent written and public speaking skills, strong public relations, the ability to proactively meet deadlines, and an exhibited commitment to and knowledge of student development and academic success. Moreover, the administrative functions of a residence hall, such as budgeting and occupancy, the ability to work collaboratively with campus and community partners, and a demonstrated commitment to and/or experience advocating for diversity are desired.
10-month position with salary of $32,240; 10-12 month furnished apartment; 10-month meal plan; vacation and sick leave; health, dental, life insurance; TIAA/CREF retirement plan; 6-credit tuition waiver per semester.
