Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; Schedule will vary according to department needs; occasional early morning, evening, and weekend hours.

About the Position:

Capital Programs and Facilities Management (CPFM) is committed to planning, developing, and maintaining a safe, sustainable, and high-quality learning and working environment for the campus community. Facilities Management provides oversight of university resources and assets and is responsible for the development of the University's facilities including land use planning, capital improvement, project development, construction, as well as facilities operations and maintenance including custodial services, landscape services, building trade services, mechanical and electrical, and recycling services. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our Facilities Management and Administration team as the Facilities Project Supervisor. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under the supervision of the Building Trades Manager, or their designee, the Facilities Project Supervisor supervises the work of contractors and trade labor for facilities projects and contracted program support, including coordination, organization, planning, and scheduling to complete work on time, within budget, and to quality specified. The Facilities Project Supervisor is a working supervisor skilled in one or more trades who leads and coordinates a multi-trade crew involved in the construction and renovation of various facilities and structures and coordinates with customers, departments, and trades shops as necessary.

The Facilities Project Supervisor leads, instructs, and works with vendors who provide support to the campus and small crews of trade staff and assistants. Responsibilities include contractor and staff supervision, schedule delivery, site logistics, technical project leadership, acting as key liaison with customers, coordinating job estimates, and ensuring work and materials meet campus design criteria and standards. The Facilities Project Supervisor instructs others in safety rules and ensures that rules are observed and in accordance with established safety procedures; Maintains records and retrieves data related to work performed using manual and/or computerized record-keeping systems. Provides instruction and lead direction to contractors and skilled, unskilled, and semiskilled assistants. Provides direction to staff regarding internal and external building components including design and installation of equipment and systems for new construction, modifications, preventive maintenance, service, maintenance and repairs, including planning, coordination, needs assessment, reviews, monitoring work and inspections, as well as estimates, prioritization, assignments, scheduling of work and projects, and conformance with specifications, requirements and compliance with applicable building safety codes and regulations.

This is a key position which cares for campus buildings and systems to support the University's mission, vision, and values in higher education. The Facilities Project Supervisor will interact with a diverse group of individuals. Essential Qualifications:
Two years of experience working as a journey level crafts worker in one or more building trades including one year in a lead/supervisory capacity. Must have demonstrated achievement of journey-level skills equivalent to those acquired through the completion of an applicable apprenticeship program. Ability to use a personal computer to produce correspondence and manage data. Possesses excellent communication and leadership skills to work with trades staff. Possesses excellent customer service skills. Thorough knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the building and construction trades. Experience with effective supervisory practices and techniques.

Knowledge of job design and work sequencing related to construction projects and applicable state and federal safety, building and construction codes and regulations. Must be able to operate all applicable building tools and equipment. Ability to plan and direct the work of skilled crafts workers and their assistants; determine and coordinate staffing, material and equipment needs for multiple jobs and projects. Ability to perform basic design work, read blueprints, work from plans and specifications, and prepare rough sketches. Ability to analyze and respond appropriately to emergency situations. Skill in maintaining accuracy and maintenance of assigned record-keeping systems, preparing reports, and the reading and writing level appropriate for the position. Ability to perform arithmetic calculations as required by the position.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.


Preferred Qualifications:
Two years of experience working as a Journey-level skill in building or construction trade. Ensures accuracy and maintenance of assigned record-keeping systems and prepares reports. Previous experience in a large, higher education environment; Knowledge of CSU building practices. Experience supervising a multi-trade construction crew to complete a wide variety of construction projects.
