The College of Engineering, Forestry, and Natural Sciences at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ invites applications for a non-tenure track position in the engineering programs as an Engineering Design Assistant Professor of Practice. The candidate will teach courses in the "Design4Practice" (D4P) undergraduate curriculum. The innovative D4P program focuses on team design processes in undergraduate education, frequently crossing all the NAU Engineering discipline areas of Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, and Environmental Engineering, plus Computer Science. The candidate also will conduct activities which support the ABET review processes of the college. The position reports to the D4P Director and one of the department chairs, depending on area of discipline.
This position is renewable based on funding availability, satisfactory performance, and departmental needs and is not tenure eligible.
The minimum qualifications are:
- An earned Masters degree in an engineering or design related field.
- At least 5 years of professional design experience in design.
The preferred qualifications are:
- Experience in multi-disciplinary environments; this evidence can include a teaching environment and/or a work setting.
- Teaching experience at the collegiate level which can include any of the following: basic programming, manufacturing/fabrication, professional writing, professional ethics, creative practices, entrepreneurship, or other design areas.
- Experience working and interacting with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Interest/experience in innovation and entrepreneurship.
The salary range for this position is $61,000-$64,000 depending on qualifications and experience. Review of applications will begin on March 20, 2014. Position will remain open until filled.
