Human Resources Management

Salary Range: $4,058 - $7,777/Monthly

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; temporary position, ends on or before one year from the date of hire; may be extended; may become permanent; non-exempt classification.

Essential Functions: Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President for Human Resources Management and the supervision of the Director of Human Resources, Equity and Diversity Policies and Procedures/Title IX, the incumbent will be responsible for providing a vast array of clerical and administrative functions to support both units in Employee/Labor Relations and the Office of Equity Diversity and Inclusion (OEDI). The work performed is of a highly sensitive and confidential nature requiring access to a variety of sources of information. Employee/Labor Relations support responsibilities include: assist with scanning of documentation to the personnel file; data entry, copying, and filing; assist with grievances; interpretation of union contracts; create and maintain employee/labor relations files; assist with CSU release time and reimbursement; gathering documentation for subpoenas; information requests, and public records act as requests; assist with tracking probationary and temporary staff evaluations; send notices to respective departments; review probationary and temporary staff evaluations and log accordingly; assist with composing letters, memoranda, reports (as applicable) and other documentation as needed; assist with monitoring departmental email accounts and responding to email inquiries and/or directing to appropriate personnel; assist with receiving and screening phone calls, visitors, and incoming mail for the unit; and other duties as assigned. In the absence of the Confidential Administrative Support II, the incumbent will support all activities in Employee/Labor Relations. OEDI support responsibilities include: assist with receiving and screening phone calls, visitors, and incoming mail for the unit; assist with composing letters, memoranda, reports (as applicable) and other documentation as needed; receive information on complaints or requests and create and maintain confidential logs and calendars; create and maintain office files including confidential department compliance, complaint and investigation files; create and maintain files on request for accommodation for employees with disabilities; research vendors and verify cost for equipment and maintains inventory of all equipment acquired; work with the Confidential Administrative Support II to hire sign language interpreters; respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures and programs; assist in issuance and distribution of the President's Annual Notification regarding the University's Nondiscrimination Policy, Prohibition of Sexual Harassment and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and distributes notices; create and update OEDI related brochures and materials; coordinate the recruitment of student assistants to support employees with physical or mental limitations, implementing the process from posting to training student assistants and facilitating approval of hours worked and payment; act as liaison between Career Center and student assistants and maintains attendance and payroll records for student assistants; and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications & Experience: Equivalent to three years of full-time general office experience that demonstrates progressive growth of responsibilities working in a Human Resources Management environment. The incumbent must have experience in handling sensitive and confidential data, as well as handling issues and/or concerns in the area of employee relations. The incumbent must have a thorough knowledge of office methods, procedures, and practices, and demonstrated knowledge of PeopleSoft HR or similar HR system. The incumbent must: have the skill to interpret and apply policies and procedures independently and use judgment and discretion to act when precedents do not exist; demonstrate effective use of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling, and excellent oral and written communication skills; and be proficient in office support technology, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access; web browsers; and be able to troubleshoot as necessary. The incumbent must possess ability to: maintain confidentiality and maintain professionalism at all times; independently handle multiple priorities and projects; act with independence; be self-motivated; and pay attention to detail and follow established procedures and protocols. The incumbent will be expected to be on campus during time of an emergency and/or a pandemic outbreak. Incumbent must demonstrate an interest or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position.
