Kent State University at Stark invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position beginning fall semester 2014 as assistant professor of biological sciences.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Biology with specialization in systematics or ecology preferred. Evidence of research scholarship and teaching experience required. Post-doctoral experience preferred. ABD candidates are invited to apply if the doctoral degree will be awarded and in hand by august 2014. One or more years of demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching preferred.
Requirements: Responsibilities include teaching courses and laboratories in the biological sciences program. Broad knowledge of phylogeny, biodiversity, and ecology as well as evolution and genetics is preferred, with organismal specialization in either vertebrates or plants. The faculty on the Kent State Regional Campuses teach 12 credit hours per semester and are actively engaged in pedagogical innovation. A tenure-track appointment carries with it the expectation of teaching excellence, developing a high quality research record, professional development, and campus/community service.
