The State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry invites applications for the position of Director of Sponsored Programs Administration. The Director works with College administrators, faculty, students, and staff to manage a portfolio of sponsored program contracts and awards. The Director will work closely with the Research Foundation for SUNY (RF), serving as the Deputy Operations Manager for the RF at the College, to expedite application and maintenance of grants, awards, and contracts. The Director reports directly to the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research.


Responsibilities
The Director of Sponsored Programs responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:


  • Working with investigators from the inception through submission to sponsors of research grant applications and contracts, including creation of grant budgets.

  • Maintenance of active grants and contracts, including renewals and the final closeout of terminating grants

  • Review and approval of project expenditure accounts in conformity with sponsor's requirements and RF and SUNY policies. The Director must be familiar with the current rules and regulations of sponsoring agencies, including federal guidelines for NIH, DoD, and NSF to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations concerning grant expenditures, conflict of interest, and effort reporting.



Requirements

  • Applicants should have a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent work experience.

  • Experience in grants or research administration including managing compliance with federal government and/or industry grants and contracts is preferred.

  • The ability to work with grant budgets and fiscal spreadsheets is essential.

  • Applicants should also have good oral and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with research and administrative personnel.



Minimum of $90,000. SUNY Optometry provides the above salary as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education. 21 days of annual leave to start and 13 paid holidays per year.
