Restaurant and Culinary Management Faculty, Steamboat Springs Campus, Steamboat Springs, CO

This full time position begins August 2014. Colorado Mountain College seeks an experienced professional and dynamic educator to lead the Restaurant and Culinary management program during the traditional academic year at the campus in Steamboat Springs. The successful candidate will have a well-rounded background in the hospitality industry, particularly food and beverage management. Candidate must also have strong interpersonal skills, experience working with teams and proven effectiveness in communicating with colleagues, students, and external constituencies. Duties include teaching a range of restaurant and culinary management courses and labs; manage purchasing, inventory and budget management for the program; schedule and coordination of adjunct faculty and staff; facilitation of learning in academic, work, and experiential learning environments; collaborate with food service operations and Resort Management faculty at the Steamboat Springs campus and Culinary Arts faculty at the CMC campuses in Breckenridge and Edwards. The selected candidate will contribute to curriculum planning and development, manage or assist with special projects, recruitment initiatives and campus events which may include community service events, and related functions. Evenings, weekends, and travel may be necessary. Salary range $54,140 - $65,273 depending on related experience and education.

Prerequisites for Position (Qualifications Standards)

  1. Education and Training: A Bachelors degree in Restaurant Management, Culinary Management, or Hospitality Management or a closely related field.
  2. Experience in the field: Five years professional industry experience. Well rounded background in foodservice and hospitality industry preferred.  
  3. Teaching Experience: A minimum of one year full time teaching/training experience or the equivalent as a part time instructor.  Teaching in higher education preferred.
  4. Special Skills or Attributes: Candidate must have a background that includes purchasing, managing budgets, program management and catering. ACF, AHLA or related certification recommended.
