Communications & Public Affairs
Emory University invites applications and nominations for the position of Senior Vice President, Communications & Public Affairs. The position, a new role for Emory, will lead the communications, marketing and government affairs functions for Emory University. Recognizing that these three functions require a high-level of cohesion, particularly for disciplined execution of consistent messaging to the different audiences and constituencies, the SVP will be the senior-most leader over these functions. The SVP will report directly to the President, oversee the senior leaders in these functions and will be a member of the President's Cabinet. The SVP serves as the chief communications and advocacy strategist, advancing and managing public affairs and government relations programs in support of the mission of Emory University with the goal of increasing visibility and understanding of the University's identity locally, nationally and internationally.
Emory University, recognized internationally for its outstanding
liberal arts colleges, graduate and professional schools, and one
of the Southeast's leading health care systems, is located on a
scenic, wooded campus in Atlanta, Georgia's historic Druid Hills
neighborhood. Emory maintains an uncommon balance for an
institution of its standing: its scholars and experts generate more
than $500 million in research funding annually, while also
maintaining a traditional emphasis on teaching. The University is
enriched by the legacy and energy of Atlanta, and by collaboration
among its schools, centers and partners. Emory is embracing changes
underway in higher education. Its 2012 Annual Report calls for
"disruptive innovation," and University priorities for 2013 include
empowering faculty responsibility for the institution's future,
enhancing student education and experiences and exploring new
markets for resource growth.
Heyman Associates has been retained to manage the search process. Applications and nominations, including a resume and cover letter, should be emailed to T.R. Straub at firstname.lastname@example.org.
