General Summary

The School of Technology & Professional Services Mgmt is accepting applications for a part-time lecturer to teach courses in the Paralegal Program.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assigned courses. Typically, two hybrid legal research, writing, and analysis courses during fall semester, and one hybrid legal research, writing, and analysis course during winter semester.
  • Maintain a positive learning environment
  • Prepare and submit syllabi, course materials, assignments, and assessments, as requested by Paralegal Program Coordinator
  • Consider learning differences when designing and implementing learning activities
  • Employ appropriate assessment tools to measure student performance
  • Use technology effectively to achieve course goals and objectives
  • Available for student meetings outside of assigned classes
  • Prepare and submit attendance records, grades, and other required documentation consistent with Eastern Michigan University schedules
  • Attend periodic meetings with Paralegal Program Coordinator and Paralegal Program faculty
  • Possess a commitment to the education of paralegal students and the utilization of paralegal services
  • Possess a commitment to continued professional growth by participating in activities designed to improve teaching effectiveness
  • Perform related departmental duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • J.D.
  • Attorney in Good Standing of a state bar
  • Four years legal work experience
  • Excellent writing, research, and analysis, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills
