POSITION: Two to three year Physical Education Lecturer with an emphasis in Pedagogy
STARTING DATE: August 18, 2014
1. Teach undergraduate courses in the Physical Education Teacher Preparation Program and MVSC core (preferred courses include Introduction to Physical Education, Measurement and Evaluation, Secondary Methods in Physical Activity Pedagogy, Curriculum and Administration, and skill and analysis classes);
2. Develop school partnerships, and provide service;
3. Recruit, mentor and advise undergraduate students;
4. Support and participate in school/outreach collaborations and research efforts;
5. Ongoing assessment for university and accreditation purposes.
Candidate should have the following: a master’s degree in physical education pedagogy or related field; K-12 school teaching experience in physical education (minimum of 3 years), and evidence of successful school/outreach collaborations.
Must: Applicants who are selected as final possible candidates must be able to pass a criminal background check.*
It is preferred that the candidate have a doctorate in physical education pedagogy or related field; strong interpersonal and communication skills; supervision experience; the ability to use technology in the classroom, physical education teaching experience in the 6-12 setting (minimum of 3 years)and evidence of success as a college/public school liaison. We are especially interested in individuals who have an interest in contributing to collaborative pedagogy and integrated curricula and research efforts to increase physical activity and decrease health risks in children/youth.
Applicants who meet the required qualifications and are interested in pursuing a PhD in Education at the University of Idaho with an emphasis in Physical Activity Pedagogy are also encouraged to apply for the position and negotiate full time/part time status. The applicant would also need to apply to the University of Idaho Graduate School. Admission into the Physical Activity Pedagogy PhD program is required. Employees receive benefits, which include reduced tuition fees.
