Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Kinesiology and Military Science.

Undergraduate degrees are offered in Kinesiology with specializations in Pre-Physical/Occupational Therapy, Sport Management, and teacher certification, as well as a bachelor of science in Athletic Training. The department also offers a master of science in Kinesiology.

The Department is significantly involved in the award winning first year and learning communities programs and is one of six institutions in the country whose educational program in Strength and Conditioning is recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Athletic Training Program is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training (CAATE).

We seek a dynamic administrator with a strong record of researcher and teaching excellence to lead the department in a time of significant University growth. Applicants for this position must hold the doctorate in Kinesiology or a related field. The successful candidate must have administrative or leadership experience in higher education and help the department articulate their goals and plans as part of an Emerging Research Institution (ERI).

The applicant should qualify for tenure at the rank of full professor in the department (advanced Associate Professors considered). Additionally, applicants must possess a commitment to collaboration, leadership, initiative; undergraduate and graduate student success; commitment to all programs within the department, which may involve night, weekend, and distance education; and diversity issues, as well as a willingness to strengthen and expand links with the community and alumni.


Preference will be given to candidates with a history of successful extramural funding.
