THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE COLLEGE OF LAW invites applications for the position of Communications Coordinator. This position is a regular, full-time 12-month appointment.


The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of an external and internal communication plan for the College of Law and for developing effective communications strategies to enhance the reputation of the College, working closely with the deans, executive staff and faculty of the College and serving as the College’s primary liaison with the University’s Creative Communications staff. Specific responsibilities will include writing, editing and producing communications for the College’s external and internal constituencies, using a variety of media; producing regular alumni publications; and initiating and coordinating the collection and dissemination of information about activities of the faculty, students, staff and alumni. The Communications Coordinator also will be responsible for coordinating relationships with local and national media; overseeing the content and management of the College’s web presence; and supervising the College’s communications staff, who will assist in carrying out responsibilities.


Applicants are required to have a bachelor’s degree in communications or related field, and a minimum of two years full-time professional experience in writing, editing, and the production of print and electronic publications. An advanced degree in a relevant field and five or more years experience in communications, public relations or related field preferred. Ability to work in a group setting and familiarity with electronic media also are required. Experience in higher education or law-related setting is desirable. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
