English: The Department of Humanities invites applications for two full-time Lecturer positions in ESL (English as a Second Language) to begin August 2014. The Lecturer position is a two (2) year renewable contract. Duties and Responsibilities: Teach a range of ESL courses that focus on preparing international undergraduate and graduate students for academic study at the university. Courses include any or a combination of intermediate, advanced and transitional (bridge) levels of reading, vocabulary, writing, grammar, listening/speaking during the fall/spring semesters for up to 18 contact hours per semester. Other duties and responsibilities include but not limited to: Assist with student advising/mentoring, manage testing and placement, participate in curriculum and course revision processes, collaborate in materials development and textbook decision-making, utilize technology in teaching and coordinate conversation and lab activities. Perform related duties as assigned. Hold regular office hours. Candidate should have evidence of continuing professional development. Candidate should have a strong background in assessment and program review. Additional Duties and Responsibilities: The IESL Program provides a fourteen (14) week Summer Session. Candidate may be expected to teach every other summer. Minimum Qualifications: Master's in TESL/TESOL, or Master's in a closely related field and substantial ESL teaching experience at the college level. Excellent Proficiency in English. Preferred Qualification: PhD in TESL/TESOL, Applied Linguistics or closely related field and post-secondary teaching experience.
