Department Summary

The Oregon Career Information System (Oregon CIS), designated by Executive Order No. 01-08 as the state's official career information delivery system, is a consortium of state and local agencies devoted to developing and disseminating current, state-based career information. Administered by the University of Oregon as an outreach center within the College of Education, Oregon CIS maintains a network of linkages with data-producing agencies, education service districts, school districts, community colleges, and over 600 user sites throughout the state. With funds from consortium members, Oregon CIS maintains a staff to produce career planning information and support materials, manage computerized delivery systems and other products, and provide training and support to user agencies and schools.

Position Summary

The purpose of the Research Analyst 3 position is to collect and disseminate information for Oregon CIS and to support the internal work of the department. Under the direction of the Director, the position oversees and conducts the research and update of all Oregon-specific information and tools of the Oregon CIS website.

The research analyst communicates directly with sites, vendors, and other public and private agencies in support of the daily operation of Oregon CIS. The research analyst may present or represent Oregon CIS at state and national conferences or meetings. The research analyst tracks and identifies the information needs of customers and stakeholder groups. The research analyst develops online reference materials for the site, staff, and user use.

Minimum Requirements

  • Two years of research experience independently gathering, compiling, and analyzing data using statistical methods (inferential, multivariate analysis, etc.); using statistical software packages to manipulate the data; and preparing narrative or statistical reports and college-level course in statistics (at least six quarter hours);
    OR
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience.

    Professional Competencies

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access, Office 365, or better and related user manuals.
  • Skills in technical writing, formatting, and correspondence.
  • Awareness of privacy issues, especially as they relate to Oregon and federal law.
  • Skills in webpage maintenance, HTML, and CSS.
  • Skills in Wiki editing, maintenance, and creation.
  • Skills in relational database design, file structure, and techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new software applications to support the management and publishing of information and data.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, positively, and tactfully in speech and in writing with members of the public, Oregon CIS staff, and information sources.
  • Ability to manage, organize, and carry out multiple projects simultaneously and to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail to proof, edit, and maintain complete and accurate files.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in customer service.
  • Demonstrated experience in survey creation and deployment.
