Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Open Digital Innovation
Today, we live an open and digital economy in which information and data is widely dispersed, technological systems are opened up, governments engage in open data activities, and individuals are empowered through digital technologies. Innovation and value creation are becoming truly boundary spanning activities: More decentralized innovation ecosystems have emerged in which a diverse set of actors co-create novel create, evaluate, and test novel products, services, or even policies. Digital technologies hold a fascinating role in this new innovation landscape. They afford new infrastructures for how innovations emerge, and enable the development of novel digitalized products, services, processes, and business model. At Purdue University, West Lafayette Indiana, one of the major research universities in the US and known for discovery in various field, the Research Center for Open Digital Innovation (RCODI) fosters scientific research on the emerging innovation landscape to advance theory, practice, and future education.
To establish a novel interdisciplinary program in open digital innovation, the Department of Technology Leadership & Innovation (TLI) at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. We expect to hire candidates at the Assistant Professor level. The position involves scholarship in research, teaching, and engagement as it is required for tenure and promotion in rank.
Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the ability to shape an interdisciplinary academic field at the intersection of innovation & management, information systems, information & data science, design engineering, and innovation policy. Foundational knowledge in the area of innovation management, socio-technical system design, and information science is expected. Additional potential areas of research include but are not restricted to online communities, social media, big data, games, artificial intelligence, or digital business models. Candidates must have an earned a doctorate in a relevant discipline related to these areas. Evidence of high quality research in a relevant field commensurate with stage of academic career is required. The successful candidate(s) will be expected to provide high quality teaching, develop a high quality research and scholarly portfolio through activities supported by discovery grants, and demonstrate an excellent program of scholarship through peer-reviewed publications in top ISI listed journals relevant to the new research area (e.g. MISQ, Research Policy, Communications of ACM, etc.).
