The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Colgate University invites applications for a one-year visiting position (with possibility of a second year) in sociology at the level of Assistant Professor, to commence in the Fall 2014 semester (Ph.D. expected by time of appointment). Competitive candidates would have expertise in one or more of the following areas: Criminology and Deviance, Gender and Sexuality, Immigration, Medicine, and Urban Sociology. Teaching duties will include Introduction to Sociology. All Colgate University faculty are expected to participate in all-University programs, which includes the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum. Review of applications will begin February 15, 2014, and continue until the position is filled. All applications should include: a cover letter specifying the applicant's interest in the position and how that interest intersects with the applicant's teaching and research experiences, c.v., one article-length writing sample, and three letters of recommendation (ideally, at least one letter will address the candidate’s teaching qualifications).
