Engineering: Department Chair Civil and Architectural Engineering and Construction Management The Civil and Architectural Engineering and Construction Management (CAECM) Department at the Milwaukee School of Engineering invites applications for the position of Department Chair beginning in Fall 2014. The Department Chair reports to the Vice President of Academics and has overall responsibility for the department's academic programs, including all administrative, budgetary, scheduling, and personnel decisions. The CAECM department currently has 16 full-time faculty members and 400 undergraduate and graduate students. The department offers accredited programs leading to bachelor's and master's degrees in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, and Construction Management. The successful candidate will have a distinguished track record of academic and professional leadership. The position entails successful interaction with all stakeholders of the department including students, parents, alumni, industry professionals, staff, faculty, and university administrators. The Chair is expected to be an excellent departmental representative to the university and to the construction and engineering community. The Chair shall perform administrative tasks consistent with the mission of the department and university as a whole, and is expected to recruit, develop, and retain outstanding faculty with the primary goal of fostering teaching excellence. A doctoral degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management or a closely related field is required at the time of appointment. A candidate with professional licensure or certification consistent with their field is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of teaching experience at the university level, and 3 to 5 years of industrial experience in their field is a significant plus. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, depending on qualifications. Salary and benefits are competitive.
