Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Associate Vice President for Undergraduate Studies, the Director of the Matador Achievement Center is responsible for providing senior leadership over academic support for student-athletes, including the development and management of the academic support and advising program for approximately 400 CSUN student-athletes. The incumbent will be responsible for oversight of all academic services for student-athletes and Matador Achievement Center staff members.
  • Provides senior leadership to the Matador Achievement Center and operates within the scope and intent of NCAA, Conference, and University regulations
  • Serves as a resource to departmental/college leaders and advisors, and promotes a commitment to the academic success of student-athletes.
  • Supervises the academic advising processes and academic support programming for student-athletes.
  • As a leader, demonstrates a commitment to student success that is mission aligned with the university's vision, values and priorities. Establishes an ethical and collegial work environment, promoting a collaborative, accountable and inclusive team. Encourages a courageous and resilient solution-oriented environment by participating in new opportunities to further the mission of the university. Participates in developing initiatives that further support the campus mission with a service-oriented and catalytic mind set. Strengthens employees by being communicative and a talent builder that develops team attributes, furthering departmental goals.

    Qualifications
    • Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a job-related field.
    • Equivalent to five years of progressively responsible professional administrative experience with two of the five years of in a managerial role, preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Leadership
  • General knowledge of NCAA bylaws and understanding of the educational development needs of student-athletes of diverse backgrounds. Ability to interpret and apply NCAA degree progress, Big West Conference, and University rules and regulations.
  • Strong oral and written communication, organizational and management skills; as well as excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to multi-task, be self-motivated, highly organized, pay close attention to detail; and work effectively in a diverse university, community, and athletic department environment.
  • Lead diverse teams to support the operational mission and vision of employers by fostering an ethical, inclusive and collegial work environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to support ongoing improvement through courageous, resilient, and catalytic leadership.
    • Lead varying initiatives through a collaborative, service-oriented and communicative approach.
    • Demonstrated commitment to employee development, recognition, and accountability to further operational goals.



    Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
    • Salary is commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience. The University offers excellent fringe benefits.
    • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $100,000 - $106,572 per year, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
    • The position is currently hybrid (4 days in office, 1 days remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
