The College of Architecture and Environmental Design (CAED) at Kent State University is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track assistant or associate professor with teaching responsibilities in design studios and expertise in one of the following: lighting and color theory; history of interiors; or advanced digital technology/fabrication. The successful candidate will be expected to lead coursework in their area of expertise and maintain an active, scholarly research agenda. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate instruction in studio-based and lecture settings within the interior design program and may include teaching in the CAED allied programs of architecture and architectural studies. An active role in curriculum development for a new master degree being proposed is also expected.
This is a position requiring vision and leadership. Candidates should be capable of illustrating achievements in design studio instruction and possess an active research agenda highlighted by peer recognition.
The program will contribute to Kent State's CAED through its mission to enhance undergraduate and graduate education. Opportunities will exist for collaborating with new programs in healthcare design and landscape architecture, and focused research in environmental design being implemented at the Kent campus and housed in the new home of the college designed by Weiss/Manfredi and Richard L. Qualifications: *Must possess one degree in interior design *a terminal degree in interior design or related design area *NCIDQ certified. Preferred qualifications: Ph.D.; record of acquiring grant-supported scholarship and creative activity; professional experience; aptitude for developing & implementing academic programs and courses; Record of participation in cross-disciplinary endeavors.
