Grove City College in Pennsylvania
|Deadline||Open until filled|
|Date Posted||December 18, 2013|
Every academic institution is unique but most can point to other institutions whose mission, athletic conference, culture or denominational “sister institutions” provide a framework for comparison. Grove City College has forged an institutional culture and a national reputation that give it a place without easy comparison among US colleges and universities. Now with 137 years of legacy, Grove City seeks its ninth president.
Since its inception in 1876, the college has offered qualified students an excellent classical liberal arts education by dedicated faculty who are experts in their field. With over 50 programs of study and a curriculum designed to educate the whole person, students are equipped with both specialized knowledge in their chosen major as well as cultural understanding to be leaders across a diverse range of professional fields and industries. Located in a picturesque Pennsylvania town an hour north of Pittsburgh, students enjoy a campus life that stretches their intellect outside the classroom by engaging in sports, the arts, clubs and other activities.
The selected candidate will assume a mantle of leadership that is founded upon and rooted in values that are fundamental to Grove City’s mission. Aligning its defining commitments to rigorous academics, a thoroughly Christian environment and an affordable cost with a transparent pricing model, Grove City College produces thoughtful students of strong character who will ascend to leadership positions and create positive impact in the world. These three principles must be visibly preserved, enhanced and imbued in every element of the college's campus culture, public reputation and operational strategy. As a significant component of leadership success, the ninth president will support and build upon these principles.
Grove City's ninth president will be the Chief Executive Officer of the college and with a business mindset must provide managerial leadership for the college's daily operational requirements. The selected candidate will shape the institutional strategy around Grove City College's irrevocable mission to build a strong academic program which honors its historic heritage of faith and freedom, with an ultimate goal of developing graduates whose intellectual, moral, spiritual and social values reflect Christian truth. Additionally, the next president must be able to articulate a compelling expression of the mission in a manner intended to solidify and grow Grove City's national reputation and influence and must build upon its positive culture, tuning it to its most productive potential.
