Preserves the safety and security of CSU students, faculty, staff and visitors through administrative leadership and operational management of Campus Safety which includes the departments of Access Control & Security Systems, and University Police. Creates, implements and maintains a Campus Security Master Plan and ensures enforcement of University policies, rules and regulations. Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local laws, regulations and standards, as well as University policies and procedures pertaining to campus safety and security systems. Establishes and enforces rules and regulations for assigned departments as designated by applicable code. Ensures the physical protection and security of the university's property and assets by staying current with trends and state-of-the-art security technologies. Supervises assigned personnel. Interacts professionally with all internal and external customers using strong interpersonal skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement, Behavioral Science or a related area. Seven years progressively responsible law enforcement experience, including five years of supervisory experience. Possession of a state of Ohio certification as a Police Officer (OPOTA Peace Officer). Experience implementing crime prevention and community policing initiatives including CPTED. Must also have experience with door key card and other electronic access systems, computerized security systems, emergency phone systems, public safety radio systems, and CCTV systems. Strong leadership skills, using team-based approach. Ability to promote and maintain a productive and collaborative environment with diverse constituencies, both internal and external to the division and University. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; must be able to confront others and diffuse situations in a polite and professional manner. Ability to train police and security personnel. Valid driver's license and ability to establish driver eligibility under the University's Driving and Motor Vehicle Policy.


Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in a related discipline or a law degree. Previous Public Safety Department management experience. Law enforcement experience at a college or university. Familiarity with fire prevention and fire suppression systems.
