The Civil Engineering Program within the Department of Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering, Mathematics, and Science at Purdue University Calumet, Hammond, Indiana invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Civil Engineering with emphasis in the area of structural engineering. The Civil Engineering degree program at Purdue University Calumet is fully accredited by ABET. The position will start August 18, 2014.

Primary responsibilities for the position include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Civil Engineering (including statics, dynamics, structural analysis, concrete design, steel design, and fatigue/fracture analysis); developing and maintaining a nationally recognized research program; obtaining extramural funding to support the research program; and advising and mentoring students.

Required qualifications: Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering with focus in structural engineering (steel, concrete, and/or timber design and analysis); evidence of research and scholarly activities; and evidence of ability to write and submit externally funded proposals. The degree must be completed by August 18, 2014.
